Multicolor Kitchen Backsplash in a Fredericksburg Vacation Rental

This kitchen backsplash in a Fredericksburg vacation rental uses a multicolor rectangular tile in tones of teal, gold, brown, and green — a mix that references the wine country palette popular in this area. The tile is a wood-look ceramic in varying tones, set in a stacked grid pattern with a 1/8-inch joint in a neutral gray grout. The backsplash runs full-height behind the range hood and continues across the open shelf section, which required setting tile behind the mounted shelf brackets. The variation in tile tone means that the pre-installation layout mattered — we dry-placed the tile order before committing to mortar to ensure the color distribution looked intentional rather than random across the surface.
