Gray Marble Shower with Wood Slat Accents in Fredericksburg

This shower in a Fredericksburg property combines gray marble-look porcelain wall tiles with vertical wood slat panels flanking the entry. The tile covers three walls of the shower enclosure in a horizontal stack pattern, and a built-in niche was framed and tiled in matching material at shoulder height. The vertical wood slats on either side of the shower opening are not in the wet zone but needed to be installed after the tile was set, which required coordinating the tile edge termination precisely with the slat panel thickness so the reveal looks intentional. The gold shower hardware was specified before we started, and we positioned the tile layout to keep the valve rough-in centered within a full tile width.
